In Baku attending the 7th International Baku Forum, President Emil Constantinescu paid a visit to the headquarters of TRACECA in Baku at the invitation of its Secretary-General, Mr. Mircea Ciopraga.
The two discussed the current and future status of Romania within the activities of TRACECA, and put forward beneficial initiatives and ideas for implementing those projects of significant importance for the Levantine region. Mr. Ciopraga reiterated Romania’s status as an intrinsic part of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia international transport corridor, and underlined the importance of Romania’s contributions to TRACECA initiatives.
The discussions with TRACECA representatives also aimed to identify the perspectives for Romanian-Azeri collaboration, and covered the emergent transport routes and corridors across the region, through the lens of the great experience gained by the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission from its founding to present. New bridges, ports and other transport infrastructure have been either completed or are currently being build, while existing road and rail networks are undergoing rehabilitation works across the entire region.
Towards the end of his visit, President Constantinescu offered Mr. Ciopraga a letter of thanks, as a token of his continued support for the activities of TRACECA in the region. In turn, Mr. Ciopraga expressed his profound gratitude for President Constantinescu’s visit, and his hope for a closer cooperation between all TRACECA member countries, including Romania.
