Studies on the History of the Levant. The Launch of the “Romanian-Turkish relations in the modern period” volume

The “Ioan N. Roman” House of Culture in Medgidia hosted the launch of the volume Romanian-Turkish Relations in the Modern Period, edited by Professor Tasin Gemil (Institute of Turkology at the “Babeș-Bolyai” University of Cluj-Napoca) and Dr. Simona Deleanu (Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization). The event, organized by the “Mehmet Niyazi” Cultural Association and the Medgidia City Hall, featured interventions from Emeritus Professor Emil Constantinescu, President of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization, H.E. Emre Yurdakul, Turkish Consul-General in Constanța, , Erol Murad, President of the “Mehmet Niyazi” Cultural Association, Radu Ștefan Vergatti, one volume’s authors, as well as Professor Valentin Ciorbea and Professor Lascu Stoica, both from the “Ovidius” University of Constanța. The event was moderated by Professor Ekrem Gafar.

On this occasion, Professor Emil Constantinescu, alongside the Turkish Consul-General, were awarded the plaque of the city of Medgidia. After the event, those in attendance visited the Church of Holy Apostles Peter and Paul and the Abdul Mosque (Great Mosque), laying wreaths at the busts of Turkish President Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and Tatar poet Mehmet Niyazi.
