Achieving a balance between old and new EU members

Another topic for consideration is the considerable brain drain from the EU's eastern member states to the significantly improved material resources and capacity to perform to one's ability found in the West. I vividly remember the problems caused by migration from the former DRG to the former FRG. It is all the more difficult to achieve a balance between the old and new members of the European Union.

Finally, I think that, in the future, the issue of resources themselves will constitute one of the major challenges for EU policy, with significant consequences in both its external and internal outlook.
