Mohammad H. Fadel, Professor at the University of Toronto, delivers the third lecture in “The Culture of Law in the History of the Levant and the Middle East” project series

Mohammad H. Fadel, profesor la Universitatea din Toronto, susține cea de-a treia conferință a proiectului „The culture of law in the history of Levant and the Middle East”The third lecture in "The Culture of Law in the History of the Levant and the Middle East" series organized by the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization, delivered by Professor Mohammad H. Fadel of the Faculty of Law of the University of Toronto on July 27th, 2023, at 5pm Bucharest time, focuses on themes of "Sovereignty, Territoriality and Islamic Private International Law".

Professor Mohammad H. Fadel is a specialist in the fields of Business Corporations, Economic Analysis of Law, International Law and Islamic Law. Having defended his PhD dissertation at the University of Chicago and receiving his JD from the University of Virginia's School of Law, Professor Fadel was admitted to the New York Bar in 2000 and has practiced law with the firm of Sullivan & Cromwell LLP in New York. Professor Fadel has published numerous articles specializing in the history of Islamic law and the relationship between Islam and liberalism.

The project's inaugural lectures were delivered by Emilia Justyna Powell, Professor of Political Science and Law at the University of Notre Dame, Indiana, and by Michael J. Broyde, Professor of Law at Emory University's School of Law.
