The First Exploratory Workshop on Good Governance, at the headquarters of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization

October 29th-30th, 2018

The first Exploratory Workshop, titled “Good Governance in the Levant”, was held at the headquarters of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization between the 29th and 30th of October 2018. The event was attended by the leadership of the World Academy of Art and Science – represented by Garry Jacobs, Alberto Zucconi and Nebojsa Nešković – as well as by notable representatives of the Romanian academic community. The discussions of the Workshop focused on a number of pressing themes for the Levantine region that all stemmed from the generic concept of “good governance”: leadership, the question of access to water in Northern Africa, Middle Eastern stability, the economic prospects of the Black Sea region and the problem of identity in the Balkans. The Exploratory Workshop aims to bring together leading experts and actors from across the historical region of the Levant, to engage in a fruitful exchange of information, ideas and examples of good practices with the goal of identifying practical solutions for creating meaningful dialogue and fostering a culture of peace in the region.
