Emil Constantinescu, chairman of the Scientific Council of the Institute for the Advanced Study of the Culture and Civilization of the Levant and member of the Board of Trustees of the World Academy of Art and Science (WAAS), took part in the XV International Economics Colloquium, jointly organized by the Universidade de Brasilia, Université Paris 13 Nord, the WAAS and the World University Consortium at the Maison des Sciences de l'Homme in Paris. With the main topic the role of international institutions in the shaping and implementation of economic policy, the colloquium recognized the need for a reorganization and re-evaluation of current economic theory. The participants underlined the necessity of making explicit the value systems that underpin any economic theory, in order to be able to knowingly apply them in different social and cultural contexts and proposed new avenues of discussion for the advancement of economic theory which would take into account, among others, the great diversity of cultural heritage and heritage sites.
