Thessaloniki, Greece, June 10th 2019
In Thessaloniki for the 43rd Congress of the American-Romanian Academy, President Emil Constantinescu met with the Rector of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Professor Perikles A. Mitkas, on June 10th 2019.
With a number of faculty professors in attendance, President Constantinescu gave a brief presentation of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization, with the discussions to follow focusing on the multiple points of convergence between the IASLCC and the Aristotle University on issues of cultural diplomacy, the history of Levantine cultures and civilizations or the protection of Levantine cultural heritage. Among the ongoing projects of the IASLCC that lend themselves to an inter-institutional collaboration with the Aristotle University in Thessaloniki are „The School of Byzantine and Post-Byzantine Studies”, „The Great Books of the Levant” and „Orthodoxy and Catholicism in the Levant after the Great Schism”, which stand as a testament to the value of a potential collaborative protocol between the two institutions.
