Tulcea, November 13th, 2018

Marking the anniversary of 140 years from the unification between Dobrogea and Romania, the city of Tulcea hosted a solemn joint session of the Councils of Constanța and Tulcea Counties. The authorities of the two counties entered a “Promissory Civil Accord”, through which they would embark on joint projects designed to further develop the Dobrogean region. The guest of honour at this unprecedented event was Emil Constantinescu, the President of the Scientific Council of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization, to whom was conferred a diploma of “High Recognition and Appreciation for the Contribution to the Development of Romania”, during the “Gala 100. People for Tulcea, People for Romania” centennial event. “Ready the future century!” was the message addressed to his contemporaries by Mihail Kogălniceanu, one of the visionaries behind Dobrogea’s unification with Romania. Today, the local authorities together with the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization aim to continue the project of their forebears through the transformation of Dobrogea into a representative model for the Levant and into an important stop on the economic and cultural route of the “Rebirth of the Silk Road”. For the events organized in Tulcea marking 140 years since the region’s unification with Romania, Emil Constantinescu was joined by Professor Dan Grigorescu, the Scientific Director of the Institute for Advanced Studies in Levant Culture and Civilization.
